The week in NY opera (May 2-8)

Metropolitan Opera:
Walküre (M/Th), Rigoletto (T/F), Orfeo (W/SE), Ariadne (SM)
The second-to-last week of the season brings the last revival debut: Ariadne auf Naxos, with a promising lineup beyond the not-quite-satisfying Urmana in the title part.

Carnegie Hall:
Philadelphia Orchestra Oedipus Rex (T)
Ian Bostridge concert (Su)

Philadelphia pairs Stravinsky's opera-oratorio on Oedipus with his ballet music for Apollo, while Bostridge sings Handel and other baroque arias accompanied by Les Violons du Roy.

Bruno Walter Auditorium (Amsterdam Ave. entrance of Lincoln Center's library):
New York Opera Forum Gianni Schicci/Cav (Sunday 1:30pm)
Young singers, concert version.
